Southampton Assessment and Study Services Ltd operates DSAQAG-registered DSA needs assessment centres. We collect information for the purposes of completing the DSA needs assessment process and written reports.

We collect information from students eligible for Disabled Students Allowance at the time of booking a needs assessment, in pre-needs assessment documentation, during and immediately after the DSA needs assessment meeting for the purposes of completing the DSA needs assessment process and written reports. The data collected includes name, date of birth, email address, and disability-related facts related to study in higher education. The methods of collection are by email, phone, and post.

The personal data we collect is used for personalisation of needs assessment content, requesting feedback after the needs assessment, and meeting internal audit requirements.

The personal data we collect is required for the correct and full completion of the DSA needs assessment reports (we therefore have legitimate interest).

The personal data we collect is included in the DSA needs assessment reports that are sent via encrypted email to DSA funding bodies. If you give consent, we will also share a copy of the DSA needs assessment with your Higher Education Provider disability advisor.

We do not share personal data with other providers of goods and services for marketing or sales purposes.

Your data is stored securely and measures are taken to minimise the risk of accidental loss. Staff and contractors receive training on data security.

The GDPR requires us to retain data for no longer than reasonably necessary. We destroy or delete copies of medical documentation provided as part of the needs assessment process one year after the date of an assessment. We keep copies of the DSA needs assessment for a minimum of six years after the date of the DSA needs assessment or review.
