Information required to book and confirm a DSA needs assessment

To go ahead with a study needs assessment, SASS require:

  • A copy of the letter from your funding body confirming you are eligible for DSA. The Student Finance England letter looks like this and other funding bodies have similar wording. We need to see this letter as confirmation that you are eligible for DSA.
  • A copy of the evidence of disability that you used to support your DSA application. For example medical note or dyslexia assessment report. We need to refer to this evidence as part of the needs assessment process.

You can send us copies of the funding body letter as an email attachment, or by post or fax (mark the fax for the attention of SASS). If you have a phone with a camera, or a webcam with a ‘take picture’ function, you could email us a photograph of the funding body letter (please note: the medical note or dyslexia assessment report may be too long for this method).

When your appointment is confirmed, we will send you confirmation of date and time together with details of how to find us. We will also ask you to fill in our pre-DSA assessment form which is intended to help us prepare for your study needs assessment. You can complete the form online or download it as a Word document.
